Who and why

Back in 1969 there was a boy born deep in a fjord in south western Norway. From early on hes howed an interest in mechanics, how and why things work. His experimentswith a screwdriver often ended in things not working anymore, but that didn’tstop him. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but apart from the odd electricshock, it didn’t kill the boy.

Years and years later he found a new hobby, photography. This interestevolved into an interest for cameras, and especially analog cameras. How theyworked, and why some of them didn’t work as they should anymore. So afterspending endless hours online watching videos, reading articles andbecoming more and more interested in this subject.

Then in 2026 he decided he wanted to take this interest a step furter, and see if he couldn’t turn his hobby intosomething more. He hoarded old cameras. Box cameras, plate cameras, folding cameras, viewfinders, rangefinders,SLRs, and so on and so on. The oldest ones from the late 1800s, the newest ones from the 2000s. He bought all thetools necessary to service a camera. Not only to do a CLA (Clean Lubricate Adjust), but a full service and repair.

Being a bit of a geek he then decided to start a website to show others his journey teaching himself how to takecameras apart, fix them, and get them back together and working as they were intended to work the day they weresold originally.

So, on these pages I will write about what I do when I try to teach myself all these things. I’ll share my successesand my failures. All the cameras that pass through my hands will eventually be sold, and I hope, be used as theywere intended to be used. To create lasting memories and bring joy to the persons using them.
